National Archaeology Day
Celebrate National Archaeology Day with us at the Canmore Museum! We will be offering free admission all day, giving everyone the opportunity to explore the museum and discover the fascinating history of our region.
Between 1:00pm and 3:00pm, join our Programs and Events Facilitator, Michael, for a guided tour of our Footsteps Through Time exhibit. We will also have a fun, hands-on activity for kids to enjoy!
October 19th Day Camp
A special one off day camp for all those kids who are off school.
We will run outdoor activities, arts & crafts, games and other fun for the little ones!
Ages 6-10 years old.

We’re excited to present the first of our winter series of lectures in partnership with the Archaelogical Society of Alberta!
In his lecture, entitled “ARTIFACTS THAT MADE ‘TALES OF THE CANADIAN FUR TRADE, Heinz will talk about some unusual fur trade artifacts which he used in his recently published book.

Jade across the Rockies: Tracing relationships in Western Canada through archaeology - Todd Kristensen
No. 4 of our winter series of lectures in partnership with the Archaelogical Society of Alberta!
Jade was used for over 3000 years in British Columbia to make woodworking tools. Some of these artifacts were traded east across mountains and Indigenous language boundaries to Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The distribution of artifacts is unusual: this talk explores who was transporting jade and why.
